London, Ontario  Thursday, May 28, 2006

The year 2006 marks a significant milestone for EMCO Corporation, one of the oldest members of the construction market in Canada. On May 28, 2006, Emco  celebrated 100 years of business success. This is no small accomplishment for a company that witnessed two world wars and the Great Depression.

A large company with an entrepreneurial spirit, EMCO was founded in London, Ontario in 1906 as Empire Brass Manufacturing Company Limited, a manufacturer of brass products. Since then, EMCO Corporation has evolved, grown and diversified it's business operations to the point where the company has a network of 180 branches across Canada. One of Canada's largest wholesale distributors of products for the construction market, EMCO offers products in the distinct categories of plumbing and heating, waterworks, industrial and HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning).

The company's success can be attributed to courageous leadership, energized employees and an unrelenting commitment to the customer. EMCO's 100th anniversary slogan, "People. Products. Pride." is a reflection of the fact that throughout it's history, the company has been people-focused and service-driven.

One example that demonstrates EMCO's customer focus is the degree of independence with which each branch is able to function. EMCO believes that the local branches are best positioned to serve their customers. It's all about local employees working with local customers. Investing in their staff with on-going training ensures that EMCO continues to be one of the best service providers in the industry.

Certainly the strength of EMCO is it's people. "We have a great team of employees who are actively involved in the decision-making process," says John Hartman, manager of the London EMCO branch. "You will find many employees who have been with the company for 30 or 40 years, not one or two, but several. EMCO makes it a priority to take the time to work with employees to ensure they are satisfied and to resolve any concerns before they become problems."

During the week of May 29th, EMCO celebrated it’s 100th anniversary with EMCO customers and employees at local barbeques at each branch across Canada. A 100th year calendar was produced and distributed in December 2005 to highlight the important milestones in EMCO’s century.

“EMCO is 100 years old, but it is by no means over,” says Rick Fantham, President of Emco. “A company of committed people, quality products and fierce pride, EMCO is well on it’s way to fulfilling our dream of becoming a world-class company. We will build on the solid foundation of record results that our team has delivered, and create a powerful future in which the best is yet to come!”
